Phonology in Māori

Diaeresis/Umlaut Use

While not part of the language, some pre-Unicode documents may be typed and digitally stored using diaeresis characters, yet typeset in a custom 'Māori' font which replaces diaeresis glyphs with macron glyphs. With Unicode becoming ubiquitous, these custom fonts have been deprecated for the above symbols.
