Also called anusvaaram, the anusvaara is used in the Sanskrit devanāgarī script to represent a nasalized pronunciation, although the nature of the nasalization depends on the sound that follows it. Transliterated, the anusvaara can be represented as a dot above or below the letter (ṁ, ṃ).
